Dr. Karen Landmeier provides a full range of behavioral and developmental services to The Youth Clinic patients, including diagnosing and developing treatment plans for children with autism spectrum disorders.
An early diagnosis can lead to treatment to aid in motor skill development, speech and communication skills and other adaptive functioning. Dr. Landmeier is among only few behavioral and developmental specialists in Northern Colorado offering ASD diagnosis.
“Spectrum disorders are so unique to each child they require individualized treatment,” Landmeier said. “Early detection allows parents and physicians to devise treatment strategies that allow individuals with ASD to function at their best.”
One in 68 children are on the autism spectrum, according to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention, and average age of diagnosis is around 4 years of age. Early diagnosis may reduce symptoms while providing families with therapies that encourage development and learning.
