City Park | Fort Collins
1500 W. Mulberry Street, Fort Collins, CO 80521
As Fort Collins’s oldest community park, City Park is over 60 acres to enjoy many outdoor activities during every season of the year. But during the wintertime, it is prime sledding grounds! There are plenty of hills around City Park to take advantage of for a fun day of sledding. This is a more difficult area to navigate for the younger kids because there are more trees in the area to navigate, so it can be a hill for the more experienced sledders that know how to steer a sled.
Fossil Creek Park | Fort Collins

Fossil Creek is one of the best parks located in south Fort Collins, with easy access to a large playground, skate park, and of course, a large hill for sledding. In the summer, kids regularly roll down and fly kites on the hill. During the wintertime, residents from all over Northern Colorado bring sleds up the hill to enjoy hours of sledding fun!
Edora Pool Ice Center | Fort Collins

This is an absolutely fantastic sledding hill located in Fort Collins! The steep hill next to the EPIC parking lot provides an ideal sledding hill, which is perfect for all ages, providing hours of fun. There are plenty of starting points to ensure kids are spaced out enough to avoid any injuries including bunny jumps for the more adventurous sledders.
Aggie Greens Disk Golf Course | Fort Collins

The Aggie Greens Disk Golf Course is located right next to the foothills, making for a scenic sledding location. As one of the more traditional sledding locations, it is a sledding hill that most locals don’t need directions to get to. This is an incredibly exciting hill for sledding but can get windy fast because of the close proximity to the mountains. Although there are no direct obstacles at this sledding location, it is very steep and can tire out younger children quickly.
Kroh Park | Loveland
5200 N. Garfield Avenue, Loveland, CO 80538
In the winter time, locals come for sledding and tubing in the far Eastern edge of Kroh Park; east of the pond and west of N Monroe Ave. The Kroh Park hill is one of the most popular sledding hills and is to Loveland residents what the Edora Pool Ice Center hill is for Fort Collins residents. This hill is great for all ages, with limited obstacles, making it a relatively safe and easy sledding hill for Colorado families.
Sledding Safety Tips
Sledding in Colorado is an absolute blast and a must-do winter activity if you visit or live in the area! Now that we have you set up for some Northern Colorado sledding fun at all these top sledding hills, here are some tips to keep your kiddos safe:
- LAYER-UP. You don’t have to bubble wrap your child, but layers do help cushion the inevitable tumbles down the hill AND ensure they stay warm in the cold temps.
- SLEDDING MANNERS. Teach your kids to make sure no one is in front of them before they go down the hill, much like looking both ways before crossing the street.
- WATER-PROOF GEAR. Waterproof gloves are essential for long-lasting fun in the snow. When your child holds onto the sled, snow shoots up, causing them to get wet quickly.
- FEET FIRST. Teaching your child to go down the hill feet-first and bottom in the sled, is the safest way to head down the hill.
