Why you chose your job
I have always been interested in medicine. As I worked the different rotations in medical school, I naturally gravitated towards working with children. My pediatric rotation sealed my choice; as it was far and away my favorite. In my opinion, pediatrics has more liveliness, happiness (in general) and hope than in the other medical fields I have encountered. I loved the idea of being able to work with and help children and their parents.
Why you enjoy working at The Youth Clinic
The people. I am surrounded by wonderful people from the front desk to the nurses, back office and providers. Everyone works together to create a very positive environment for the patients and their families. I love watching the little ones grow from babies to toddlers, young children and beyond.
What advice do you have for your patients/audience?
Enjoy your kids as they are and give them positive reinforcement every day! As everyone says, they grow up extremely quickly- so work to ensure you can look back on this time fondly. Medically- get your children vaccinated, and if you have questions about the vaccines, ask your doctor.
You are a single dad – how do you think that benefits your patients?
I understand the stressors of divorce and single parenting because I personally have gone through these changes in life. More in tune with the demands of child-care with a full-time job from the perspective of a single parent.
