No matter where you are living during the COVID-19 Pandemic, there are many ways to promote your child’s wellbeing. Below you will find ways that the CDC recommends. Here at the Youth Clinic, we are following all of the recommended guidelines to keep kids healthy during COVID-19 in Colorado.
Wash Hands
Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, and encourage your child to do the same. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Wear a Mask
Make sure everyone in your household wears a mask (if 2 years of age or older) when in public and when around people who don’t live in your household. Ensure your child wears their masks correctly and safely. You can read our post “Face Mask Safety, Protocol and Tips for Children” here.
Avoid Close Contact
Make sure your child and everyone else in your household keeps at least 6 feet away from other people who don’t live with them and people who are sick.
Cover Coughs and Sneezes
When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, throw your tissue in the closest garbage can, and wash your hands. Encourage your child and all household members to do the same.
Continue Well Care Visits
We believe it is now even more important than ever to provide great ongoing care and immunizations for the children of our community. We are taking precautionary measures to ensure that all patients and staff remain safe and healthy. Read about our new safety protocols for visits here.
Stay Active
Regular physical activity can improve a child’s physical and mental health. Set a positive example by leading an active lifestyle yourself and making physical activity a part of your family’s daily routine.
In addition to following the recommendations above, consider taking extra precautions if your child has a disability or a developmental or behavioral disorder.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a Well Care visit, please feel free to contact us at any of our locations across northern Colorado.
